BOATS

We operate a fleet of modern Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boats. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and the Oil Industry use similar vessels. Our boats have been specifically adapted for marine eco tours.

Every vessel has twin engines and operates to the new Maritime and Coastguard Agencies ‘Harmonised’ Code of practice. Front seats have been specially adapted to accommodate parent and child. We supply quality waterproofs.

In the interest of your personal safety, we insist you wear your lifejacket at all times. Our vessels always operate with a skipper and a naturalist/crew member. We have a dedicated, fully staffed shore base; our boats keep in regular contact.

Cabin RIB

Celtic Voyager undertakes Whale watching tours, and runs out to Iona (75 mins direct service). We offer a full inter island taxi service. Powered by twin 300 HP engines the cruising speed is 25 knots with a top speed of 40 knots. Individual seats for all inside the cabin. Easy access to the foredeck.

FAQ

We get asked many questions. Below are a few comments you may find useful. Our passengers range in age from 93 to babes in arms and include people with disabilities.

Our guidance includes:
We are happy to carry anyone who is 4 and over at any time we consider it safe to operate. Under 4’s, are carried at the skipper’s discretion depending on weather and sea conditions. Persons with disabilities must have independent sitting balance. We are happy to assist with boarding. Our team includes an occupational therapist and someone who worked with the Jubilee Sailing Trust. They are more than happy to offer advice. Persons who suffer from chronic back complaints or who are pregnant are advised that these trips may be unsuitable in certain sea conditions. We request you inform us of any potential problems at the time of booking.

PERSONAL CLOTHING

Lifejackets are to be worn at all times whilst at sea. We supply a full set of quality waterproof clothes. You will need to bring plenty of warm clothes to wear under the waterproofs. It is always colder at sea than you think, don’t be afraid to add an extra layer. You may require hats, gloves, sunglasses and sun cream all on the same trip. Bring plenty, our crew are happy to advise. Our ticket office sells many of the items you may require.

EQUIPMENT

Bring cameras, binoculars, sweets, water etc. We suggest you wrap them in a polythene bag then put them in your pocket or bring a small rucksack to hang on the back of a seat. If you are concerned about your camera or binoculars, we hire waterproof binoculars (£2.00 per trip) and offer disposable cameras for sale. Please note all equipment is carried at your own risk.
