We thought you may like to know what some of our “old” team members are doing now – what have they been up to since they left Seafari ? This week we have been catching up with Niki Boulton, or as she is now known as, Niki Kulesza !

NIKI KULESZA

Niki on board one of our boats whilst doing an interview for Real Radio !

What season did you work for Seafari Adventures ?

2012

In what capacity did you work for Seafari Adventures ?

I worked as a wildlife tour guide and photographer- in fact you’ll see a lot of my photos on the leaflets, promotional materials and website!

What is your favourite memory of your time with Seafari ?

I think my favourite memory was seeing my first basking shark. I remember it being a beautiful flat calm day, the water was like glass. This huge basking shark almost as long as the RIB came right alongside us. I was so taken aback by its sheer size and majesty that I almost forgot to start giving a talk on them! The water was so clear that day that you could see every detail of its back and skin including all of its scars and its huge gaping mouth.

Did you ever fall in ? If so, details please !

No way ! [Can’t believe nobody has admitted to it yet ! -ED]

Favourite place on Easdale island ?

I enjoyed the old sunken quarries that I used to frequent early evening with a cider to enjoy watching the otters’ feed!

Favourite bit of the Corryvreckan Wildlife Tour ?

I have a soft spot for the north east side of Jura, seeing the Sea Eagles nesting there on such a remote part of the island felt so special.

So, what have you been up to since leaving Seafari ?

I ended up spending 5 years on the Isle of Skye working for a couple of different boat tour companies. I loved my time on Skye and got a lot of opportunities to visit some of the hardest to reach islands in the United Kingdom, including: St Kilda, Stroma, North Rona, Mingulay, Flannan and even Sula Sgier.

I then moved off Skye and started working for an expedition cruise company which had small ships, that’s taken me all over the world, from Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Patagonia and Seychelles to name a few.

Niki still enjoying being out on the water in her post-Seafari days.

What are you currently doing ?

Obviously since Corona Virus I have been mainly at home, but before that I worked for a company called Nobel Caledonia which have a number of small expedition ships. I love being on board the ships, all the crew are very friendly and it’s like being part of one big family!

Many thanks to Niki for taking the time to catch up with us – keep an eye on this blog for your next “old crew” update !
