We thought you may like to know what some of our “old” team members are doing now – what have they been up to since they left Seafari ? This week we are featuring Callum Berridge .…

CALLUM BERRIDGE

What season did you work for Seafari Adventures ?

I worked for Seafari the season of 2016. Feels like yesterday, I can still here Tony shouting over the radio “take the green dinghy!” Hahaha !

In what capacity did you work for Seafari Adventures ?

I was a crew member wildlife guide.

What is your favourite memory of your time with Seafari ?

Best out of work memory was when we had a live band on the island for the longest day of summer and after the music we took beers and sat on top of the hill on Easdale with the band and the other Seafari crew members and a few of the younger folk from the island. I remember it was only dark for something crazy like 40mins !

Best work memory was having a sea eagle swoop down about 5 metres infront of our boat during a wildlife trip with skipper Steve and it picked a fish out the sea from right infront of our boat !I think I may have shouted some pretty choice language in my excitement (oops !) before the normal speeches about “flying barn doors and 2.5m wing spans”.

Did you ever fall in ? If so, details please !

Never fell in, came close though, the odd welly in the water while running up and down the sponsons but that’s about as close as I came…fortunately !

Favourite place on Easdale island ?

Favourite place on Easdale is the pub, a lot of good memories playing darts and drinking Tennent’s. Or the quarry where the sea breaks through at high tide and fishing there in the evenings.

Favourite bit of the Corryvreckan Wildlife Tour ?

The Grey Dogs was my favourite place on the wildlife tour by a long way it’s just such a raw and hectic place but also beautiful and full of wildlife.

So, what have you been up to since leaving Seafari ?

After Seafari I travelled and worked in NZ for 1 year but mostly it was a very extended surf trip I had an absolute blast and met some great people. Once back from NZ and needing to get a proper job I landed a job as Flotilla engineer in Corfu in Greece and after a year of that I was missing surfing in classic Devon weather so I came home and got a job as a marine engineer in Salcombe working for a company called SMS (funny how these things work !).

Many thanks to Callum for taking the time to catch up with us – keep an eye on this blog for your next “old crew” update!
